What Is Kabbalah? The Ancient System for Creating Miracles.
By David Ghiyam 10 min Aug 12, 2026
I discovered the 4,000‑year‑old wisdom of Kabbalah when I was just a teenager. And 25 years later, after giving over 2,000 seminars around the world and applying these spiritual laws to build a $600M business, MaryRuth Organics, I have dedicated my life to sharing the teachings so everyone can create their dream life.
So What Is Kabbalah, Really?
If you were to ask 10 different people, “What is Kabbalah?”, you might get 10 different answers. Some people picture mystical symbols. Others think of religious texts. Others aren't sure what to think. Here's how I explain it.
Kabbalah is the spiritual blueprint to your soul. Its teachings describe the practical laws of how your soul works, the purpose of your life in this world, how the universe works, and why things happen the way they do.
There are laws of physics that govern the physical world: Gravity, motion, and energy. Kabbalah is the same, but for the spiritual realm. These are the laws that govern your soul, your consciousness and your ability to receive blessings. And just like gravity, they work whether we know about them or not.

How Old Is Kabbalah?
When people ask, “How long has Kabbalah been around?”, the answer goes back thousands of years. The history of Kabbalah stretches to ancient times. The inner workings of this wisdom were passed down orally from teacher to student for generations, until they were transcribed in ancient texts such as the Zohar, written by the great Kabbalist Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai about 2,000 years ago.
Then, in 1969, my teacher, Rav Phillip Berg, took a radical step. He made the wisdom of Kabbalah widely available to the public. He said, “This wisdom doesn't belong to one group of people. It belongs to all humanity.”
That's the lineage I've been blessed to learn from and continue to learn from. The key takeaway is simple: Kabbalah isn't some new‑age spirituality. It's ancient wisdom made accessible to everyone.

Clearing Misconceptions
Over my years of teaching, I have encountered many common questions and misconceptions. What does Kabbalah mean? How old is Kabbalah? People who are unfamiliar with the wisdom often assume it is religious, or about mystical symbols. But the truth is much different.
Is Kabbalah a Religion?
No. Kabbalah doesn't ask you to change your beliefs or convert to anything. It's a spiritual technology with practical tools you can apply across every area of your life.
Whether you follow a religion, a spiritual path, or don't believe in anything at all, this wisdom enhances your understanding of yourself and the world around you. Kabbalah attracts people from every background: Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and people who simply believe in a higher power. They all resonate with this wisdom because it's universal.

Everything comes down to one idea: the vessel. Blessings such as success, love, and abundance are always available, the way sunlight is always available. What varies is the size of the container you bring. The work is never to beg for more light. The work is to build a bigger vessel. Here is how that happens:
- Notice where you chase. Chasing an outcome closes the vessel; it tells your soul the blessing is scarce.
- Share without agenda. Acting beyond self‑interest is the single fastest way to expand what you can hold.
- Reframe the difficulty. Every challenge is a stretch in the vessel's walls, sent to grow your capacity, not to punish you.
The moment you stop asking why this is happening to you and start asking what this is building in you, the same life becomes a different life.Listen to this teaching The Vessel and the Light5 min
